It is my pleasure to introduce Mr. Jim Weygandt. I have known and worked with Jim for over 25 years and am convinced that he is one of the nicest, most honest, and without a doubt, the most talented person I have ever known. Now, that's laying it on pretty thick, so let me go back to when Jim was in his early 20's, and he came to work for me as a commercial production artist.
Please be aware that in the early 80's, commercial artists were in fact - artists. There were not Apple computers or PCs. Artists created all layouts, illustrations and finished product by hand. Typography was, in fact, a skill in itself, and Jim was a child prodigy and an early master of the skills that it took to be a top notch commercial artist. Later, Jim mastered the computer and the many design programs and did not miss a beat in keeping up with the industry.
Our forte was retail automobile dealerships though we handled a myriad of other accounts including, but not limited to, banks, shopping centers, furniture stores and various industrial accounts. This work included newspaper ads, brochures, direct mail, billboards, not to mention radio and television commercials. The success that I enjoyed for the next 15 years or so would not have been possible without Jim.
In the 90's we branched out to regional advertising for Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors. We soon found ourselves representing dealer groups in all of South Texas and later became involved with Campbell Ewald Advertising and General Motors R-Works in the 14 states that made up the Central Region for Chevrolet.
Jim later branched out on his own and secured the Chevrolet exhibit for the Texas State Fair, a million dollar project as well as various outdoor displays for Chevrolet across the region. And I moved on to greener pastures. However, when I needed first class talent and a person I could trust to deliver quality work on time and within budget, I always called Jim. And today, with one foot in retirement, Jim's talent keeps me working.
Am I a fan of Jim? You bet! And I can assure you that if you want your advertising to stand out from the clutter, you want to become a fan of Jim Weygandt.
